Egypt denies that imprisoned Aboul Fotouh suffered heart attack

The Egyptian authorities have denied claims that political leader, Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh has suffered two heart attacks during the past days that almost killed him.

An Egyptian security source said that “Aboul Fotouh enjoys good health, and his family visits him in accordance with security regulations.” The source said that the claim that Fotouh suffered a heart attack was designed to spread terrorist lies and convey a false image about his health status in the media.

The Egyptian authorities arrested Fotouh, the leader of Misr al-Qawiya (Strong Egypt) political party, more than 70 days ago on charges of spreading false news and joining a terrorist group.

The Misr al-Qawiya party cited Fotouh’s family as saying that he had suffered two heart attacks during the past few days that almost killed him, in a statement on Monday

According to the family, the prison administration did not make any effort to provide him with first aid or transfer him to hospital for treatment which directly threatens his life.
