Among the bestselling executive sedans in the country, Hyundai Verna is all set to get a facelift next month
Earlier, it was being speculated that Hyundai will reveal Verna facelift at 2020 Auto Expo. However, those hopes were dashed. It may be recalled that China-spec Verna has already received a facelift last year. Most recently, Russia-spec Verna has received a facelift. In Russia, Verna goes by the name of Solaris, which is essentially a rebadged version of India-spec Verna.
Verna facelift India edition is expected to be different in comparison to Chinese and Russian variants. For records, China-spec Verna facelift comes with a flamboyant design, complete with sharp character lines and liberal use of chrome accents. Use of chrome is preferred by customers in India, so we can see this bit being used in India-spec Verna facelift as well. Top-spec Verna facelift to be launched in India could get chrome accents on the front grille, headlamp housing and rear-view mirrors.
In comparison, Russia-spec Verna facelift utilizes a black finish across the grille and headlamp and fog lamp housing. The car has smooth curves and comes with sportier, dual-tone exteriors. Both China and Russia-spec Verna facelift variants come with trendy alloy wheels. Something similar is expected to be introduced in India-spec Verna facelift as well.
India-spec Verna facelift is most likely to closely resemble its Russian counterpart. Similarities are expected in the updated front grille, triangular headlamps that seamlessly merge with the grille, and refreshed tail lamps. No major changes are expected in the side profile, as both China and Russia-spec Verna facelift variants continue using the same side panel design as the older model. At the rear, we can see an updated bumper that comes with blackened bits and new inserts. Similar changes can be introduced in India-spec Verna facelift.

Powering Hyundai Verna facelift will be BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5-litre units will come with both manual and automatic gearbox options. A 6-speed torque converter gearbox will be offered with the 1.5 diesel, whereas a CVT option will be available with the 1.5 petrol engine.
In addition to the above two, there will also be a turbo petrol variant on offer. This is the same engine which we have seen in the Venue, Aura and more recently in the Grand i10. The 1.0 liter 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine on board the 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift will deliver 120 PS or power and and 172 Nm of torque. Transmission will be taken care by a 7 Speed DCT. It will also get the Turbo Pack features, which are detailed below;
