Auto Expo 2018 is nearing with every passing day and there are high hopes from leading automakers. When we say ‘leading’, Tata Motors surely comes to mind. The company will showcase some really interesting models at the biennial event, some of which we know already. Besides the awaited H5 SUV and the X451 hatchback, the company will also showcase the AMT version of its Nexon compact SUV. The Tata Nexon AMT will be offered with both, petrol and diesel engine options. The AMT transmission will be a derivative of the six-speed manual gearbox that currently does duties on the Tata Nexon. The new Tata Nexon AMT model will be visually the same in comparison to the existing one. Also, except for the AMT gearbox, there will be no change in the mechanicals. During the Auto Expo 2018, the AMT will likely be launched for the mid and top variants of the Tata Nexon. The compact SUV is currently on sale in India in four variants that go by the name XE, XM, XT and XZ Plus. The Nexon is available at the company’s dealerships in a total of five colour options namely Moroccan blue, Glasgow grey, Seattle silver, Vermont red and Calgary white.
Powering the Tata Nexon, as already mentioned, are both, petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder petrol engine is good for churning out 110 hp of power and 170 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder Revotron diesel engine churns out respective power and torque of 110 hp and 260 Nm. In terms of safety, the Tata Nexon gets dual airbags and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard across all the variants. More details on features to surface during Auto Expo 2018.
Prices for the new Tata Nexon AMT are expected to stay competitive. Since the price of Tata Nexon AMT’s biggest rival Ford EcoSport Automatic starts at Rs 9.55 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), Tata will try to keep the pricing under the said figure. More details to be revealed at Auto Expo 2018.
