Auto Expo 2018: The Tata Tigor electric car made the headlines last year when Tata bagged an EESL contract for 10,000 cars. Even though they have delivered the first batch of electric Tigor’s, a lack of charging points meant that the Tigor EV is unlikely to hit the streets anytime soon. In the past Tata said that it will definitely be looking to bring the Tigor EV to the market soon, in fact, they have also said that they wish to follow up the Tigor EV with a Tiago EV which can be even more mass-market. Considering the two share a platform the major task for Tata will be to price it much more competitively than the Mahindra E20 whose sales have been picking up over the last few months.
Our sources have confirmed that the Tata Tigor Electric Car in full production spec will be making its debut at the Auto Expo 2018. Unlike the concept which was showcased at previous Auto Expos, this working model will further Tata motors cause in terms of connected mobility the central theme for their exhibit at the Auto Expo 2018. The Tigor Electric Car which Tata priced around the Rs 11 lakh mark for their EESL tender, might sound a bit expensive, but once you considering fuel and maintenance savings in the long term, it could be a recoverable cost. Remember inclusive on Tata price tag for EESL contract was a two-year maintenance policy. However, the final spec features and the package will have to wait till Tata officially launch the Tigor EV post the Delhi Auto Expo 2018.
