Datsun Go Cross

First unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo, Datsun Go Cross, the company’s first ever attempt in the cross over space seems to be taking shape as the production version of the car was recently spotted in Indonesia. Reports say that Datsun Go Cross will make its global debut in Indonesia soon and the car is likely to come to India in 2018. With both Nissan and Datsun not participating at the 2018 Auto Expo, sources close to the company suggest that the car might be previewed in India in March/April 2018. Earlier during the launch of Datsun Redi-Go 1L, Jerome Saigot, Vice President, Marketing and Datsun Business Unit, Nissan Motor India had mentioned that a all new product is in works and hinted that it will be an affordable mini SUV. Datsun Go Cross will be a sub-4-meter car with the stance of a SUV. Similar to that of Mahindra KUV 100.

The spotted Datsun vehicle certainly will remind of the Datsun Go+ MPV. The car gets a plastic cladding with silver finishing touch that separates it from Datsun Go+. While there is no badging of Datsun Go Cross anywhere many might say that this is not an actual car as it has resembles nothing close to the concept vehicle. Datsun Go Cross will get a similar cabin to that of the Datsun Redi-GO and Go+ but we expect the car to come only in a 5-seater option and not 7-seater. The global model of the Datsun Go Cross will feature manual AC, a 6.9-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system that supports Bluetooth connectivity, power windows. The leaked image shows the addition of rear parking sensor.

The Datsun GO-cross shares the same platform as GO+

In Indonesia, Datsun Go Cross will get a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, petrol engine with a maximum power of 68hp and 104Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-Speed gearbox on the standard variant and expect an AMT or CVT gearbox also on offer. Airbags and ABS will be a pack of standard safety features on the car.

Datsun Go Cross will be an important product for the company in India after having managed to sustain the sales of Datsun Redi-Go in India the company has managed to attract its target audience and have also ventured aggressively into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Datsun is still a young brand in India and products like the Go Cross will help the company to attract young buyers. Go Cross will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Mahindra KUV100. We expect Datsun Go Cross to be priced aggressively between Rs 4.5 – 6.8 lakh.
