New Maruti Ertiga spied on test along with Ciaz – Debut at 2018 Auto Expo

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has created a niche for itself where the Ertiga MPV is concerned. Launched in April 2012, the company has noted outstanding sales over past four years. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga’s total domestic sales stands 3 lakh, units which equates to sales of around 5,500 units per month ever since launch.

Now with the new generation Swift and Dzire revealed, it is certain that the new gen updates will shared with Ertiga, as all of them are based on the same platform. Expected to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in February, here are the latest spy shots of new gen Maruti Ertiga.

On test was also the Ciaz facelift.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the second best selling MPV in India following Toyota Innova Crysta. Sales have been steadily rising over past few months. Competitive pricing, three rows of seating and a number of first in class features have allowed the Maruti Ertiga to be a crowd puller in domestic markets.

Current Maruti Ertiga registers sales of about 6,000 units every month, which is less than that of Toyota Innova Crysta. With the new Ertiga, Maruti might aim to dent sales of the Crysta. Compared to the current Ertiga, the upcoming 2018 variant will not only be loaded with more features, but it will also be longer and wider, enabling more space to passengers. It will also be lighter, thanks to the new platform. This will help the 2018 Maruti Eritga to be better in performance, delivering better acceleration and top speed.

It will also get an improved fuel efficiency. Current Ertiga petrol delivers 17.5 kmpl while Ertiga Diesel delivers 24.52 kmpl. Considering that the new gen Dzire is offered with both manual as well as AMT transmission option, the new Ertiga could also be offered in same option.

Speaking about features, just like the new Dzire, new Ertiga will also be loaded with tech. It will come with comfortable seats for all 7 passengers, improved NVH, added safety with airbags and ABS standard, smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple carplay and Android auto support, projector headlamp with LED DRLs, LED tail lights.
