Eight-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII to debut in India tomorrow

The new generation Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII is based on the company’s new aluminium spaceframe platform or as RR calls it, the ‘Architecture of Luxury’. After making a debut in Chennai, the Phantom VIII will be launched in Delhi and Mumbai.

The Eight-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom will make its debut in India on 22 February 2018. The first of the eight-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom, called the Phantom VIII, will be unveiled in Chennai, from where the first order for it has been placed, according to a Car and Bike report. The Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII will subsequently be launched in Mumbai and Delhi by next few weeks. In its eighth generation, the Phantom has been given a lot many exclusive fitments, which the British carmaker says will only be made available only on Rolls-Royce cars of the future. These include all new aluminium spaceframe chassis in place of a monocoque construction.

Phrases like ‘Architecture of Luxury’, ‘The Embrace’,’The Gallery’ and ‘The Suite’ have been extensively used to portray the Rolls, which will quite be the pinnacle of automotive luxury. Rolls-Royce Phantom has been preferred by some of the most powerful and influential people in the world for 92 years and the brand is resolved on maintaining this image with the new Phantom.

Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII is powered by an all-new 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine, that churns out a maximum of 563 bhp and develops a monstrous 900 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed transmission and power is transferred to the rear wheels.

The Phantom VIII will come with a bigger 24-slat grille, new LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, along with LED tail lamps as well. The paint job will be a dual-tone shade, and the overall will be further accentuated by the bold alloy wheels.

Rolls-Royce’s ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ on the Phantom VIII will be further improved with self-levelling air suspension, which makes millions of calculations per second according to acceleration, steering and camera inputs.

This will also be the most technologically advanced Rolls-Royce Phantom ever. The eight-generation Phantom VIII will serve as a base for future Rolls-Royce cars, including those with different powertrains and other aspects, paving a long-term roadmap for the company.
