Major automakers are pulling out all stops to attract buyers towards their showroom this month. A slew of cars have either been or are scheduled to be launched and the following are some of the major highlights.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno RSPhoto courtesy: Nexa ExperienceOne of the most anticipated cars of 2017, the Baleno RS created a big buzz when launched on March 3 at a price of Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Offered only in petrol variant for now, the Baleno RS has a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder Boosterjet combustion chamber which belts out 102PS of power and 150Nm of torque. The feature list includes 16-inch black alloy wheels, day-time running LEDs, projector headlamps, disc brakes on all four wheels, automatic headlamps, SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and built-in GPS navigation, voice command system, reverse parking sensors with a camera, push start/stop with smart key, automatic climate control, ABS and dual airbags. Kwid has been a success story for the French in India. Looking to build upon it, Renault launched the Kwid Climber - first showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo - on March 9 at an introductory price of Rs 4.3 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi). Offered in 1.0-litre SCe (Smart Control efficiency) and a a five-speed AMT version - called Easy-R Gear Box, the Kwid Climber has several visual changes which include bumper overrriders, front and rear terrain protectors with orange accents, two tone arching roof bars, side-door protection cladding and a higher ground clearance than the original model. RACEMO - is the cornerstone here, the company also showcased the Tigor - scheduled for an India launch on March 29. The petrol versipon of the car will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron engine while a 1.05-litre Revotron motor will be inside the diesel variant. An option between five-speed manual and an automatic transmission will also be offered. Pronounced Tee-Gaur, the compact sedan will lock horns with Maruti Suzuki DZire, Honda Amaze and Ford Aspire. Reports suggest Tata will undercut competition with its pricing for Tigor.
Honda WR-VPhoto courtesy hondacarindia.comAfter introducing the 2017 edition of Honda City, the Japanese auto giant is betting big with crossover vehicle WR-V. While based on the Jazz platform, the sub-four meter WR-V is taller and has a better ground clearance to tackle Indian roads. The car has ABS with EBD and dual airbags as standard while much like the new City, is expected to be packed with gizmoz. It will be offered in options of a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. India will be the first global market of the production-ready car and it will be officially launched tomorrow (March 16).
Lamborghini Aventador STNN PhotoFor those looking to stand out from the crowd - and have Rs 5.01 crore, the Italian auto giant raced in the Aventador S on March 3. The Aventador S supercar made its way to India only in the coupe form and features the same 6.5-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine that powered its predecessor. The engine for the Aventador S is returned to produce 740PS of power and 690Nm of torque. That's 10PS less than the SV trim but 40PS more than the car it replaces - the standard Aventador. Click
