Auto Expo 2016: BMW i8 flaunts stylish exterior, hybrid core

GREATER NOIDA: If there was one car that was sought after the most by visitors at Auto Expo 2016, it was the BMW i8. There is little surprise that car enthusiasts lost no chance to get a feel of the car from inside and out - clicking photographs galore with the sportscar with stylish and futuristic looks.

So what is it about the i8 that turns heads? Here's a quick list of its highlights:
* The i8 is a hybrid vehicle which means that it comes with a petrol as well as an electric engine. The electric unit powers the front wheels and generates 131 bhp. The petrol engine is capable of belting out 231 bhp of power. Combined, the two engines produce 362bhp.

* The i8 is capable of propelling itself from zero to 100kmph in just 4.4 seconds.
* A six-speed automatic gearbox transfers power to the rear. A two-stage automatic transmission delivers power to the front.
* In terms of safety, the car features a long list with ABS, parking sensors, airbags and traction control, among others.
* The claimed mileage of the car is 47.5kmpl. The car costs Rs 2.4 crore in India.
